Let's Hear it for the Gworls: 5 Must-Follow Social Media Accounts for Pride Month

It’s Pride Month Queen! Venmo your queer friends.

Our agency is based in NYC, so June Pride is a big deal around here. The city pulls out all the stops with parades, block parties, and events to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community all month long. We like to get a little personal with our activism, so we’re buying from LGBTQIA+-owned businesses and attending community events.

Over the years as we’ve shaped our mission around amplifying voices, we've learned that in celebrating diversity, you’ve got to do the work to do it right. For a long time, racial diversity has dominated inclusion talks but in the year 2024, society's evolved. More and more, gender and sexual identity are shaping conversations about what makes a community truly diverse.

When we take on clients and hire staff, we’re intentional about incorporating as many voices and perspectives as possible. We know that the more diverse our roster is, the better the content we can provide. For us, that’s what Pride is about; making sure that diverse voices are heard and uplifted. So this year, in celebration of our LGBTQIA brethren, we're doing more than rainbow-washing our socials while watching the parade.  Instead, we're highlighting five LGBTQIA social media accounts you need to follow forever.

Raquel Willis (@RaquelWillis_)

Some people just hit their personal brand right on the head, and Raquel Willis is one of those people. This Black transgender journalist and activist, has dedicated her life to advocating for Black trans women. You can catch snippets of her incredible interviews on her socials, but it’s her personality that wins over audiences. With funny personal reflections and stunning photo shoots from her brand partnerships, following Raquel means you get a front-row seat from a down-to-earth pro to the evolution of media.

Bretman Rock (@bretmanrock)

Bretman Rock is bae. Known for his big opinions, and a hair profile that is an undeniable flex, Bretman is one influencer who has shirked gender expectations and embraced his fluid identity from the beginning. His brand has grown beyond contour tutorials on YouTube and now his socials are filled with unfiltered fabulous lifestyle content following his life in Hawaii. Always a champion of queer rights and cross-over content, Bretman uses his platform to amplify LGBTQIA+ voices and creators. His larger-than-life personality and his marketing savvy have translated into massive success. If you want a practical perfect case study in digital branding, follow Bretman.

Jazzmyne Jay (@jazzmynejay)

Jazzmyne Jay is the fat, black, queer friend whose confidence makes you want to love yourself a little bit more. She’s a force of nature and a fierce supporter of LGBTQIA+ rights who breaks down barriers on the daily with behind-the-scenes looks at her work, her life, and her love. Jazzmyne’s socials not only celebrate her identity but also encourage others to embrace their true selves, making her one of our favorite daily doses of inspo.

Dylan Mulvaney (@dylanmulvaney)

Dylan Mulvaney is a newer influencer, but their TikTok transition series “Day X as a Girl”  gave audiences a very personal window of visibility to the world of receiving gender-affirming surgery. As a non-binary activist and content creator, Dylan uses their platform to teach people about their personal journey with gender and inclusion. The beauty of the non-binary and trans experience through Dylan's eyes is equal parts infectious and enlightening.

them. (@them)

This honorable mention isn’t a singular creator but they are an account you have got to add to your feed. Them. is a digital news and entertainment platform that shares LGBTQIA+-related stores. Their accounts are filled with expertly crafted articles, interviews, and content that celebrate queer culture and discuss important issues facing the LGBTQIA community.  With them. Whether you stumble upon an artist spotlight for a new nonbinary artist, or discover an op-ed that breaks down what the 2024 election means for queer folk, you know the content you get is going to be good.  With them. everyone can get a through line to the things that matter in queer culture every day.
