Five Podcasts to Inspire Your “New You” in 2024

How is it December already?! It’s hard to believe that 2023 is coming to a close. This year, many of us went through the inevitable ups and downs that come with living in America.  We laughed, loved, and lived, but through it all, we grew. And whew, we don’t know about you but we’ve had about all the growth we can take this year. (Hey Siri: Remind us to tell our local deity to take us off the strongest soldiers list.)

One of the toughest lessons we learned is to be patient with ourselves. There’s no one path to growth or success but it’s nice to know you’re not alone. Change is inevitable, so it’s key to keep rediscovering ways to prioritize your sense of self. In the interest of setting gentle intentions for 2024, we’ve curated a list of five podcasts we think will help you recenter your “self” in 2024.

Each of these podcasts has a different niche that can help you recenter in different ways. Some are for the go-getter looking to jump-start a corporate career, while others are for the woman ending the year in need of holistic rest. We believe that wherever you are in your journey, it’s important to honor the moment so that as you move into the next season of you, you’ve got a few friends to help you through.

For the Queen Climbing the Corporate Ladder

  • Your Next Move Podcast  by  Kimberly Brown

    • Average Episode Length: 30-45 minutes.

    • This one is for the corporate queens seeking high-level strategies to help them achieve that six-figure salary. Career coach Kimberly Brown is the best manager you never had and her podcast aimed at helping women of color reach their professional goals is constantly dropping professional development gems. She’s a sister on a mission, and her show has something for women at every level. The mix of short-form and long-form content makes it easy to fit this engaging series into your busy schedule. We’ve noticed the shorter episodes offer practical micro-bites of professional development advice in 15 minutes or less (like How to Convince Your Boss That You Are Ready for a Leadership Role), but it’s the longer masterclasses and fascinating guest profiles (ie: Technology and the Future of Work with Sherrell Dorsey) that keep us coming back.

For The Generational Wealth Queen

  • Financial Feminist by Tori Dunlap

    • Average Episode: 1 hour or Less

    • Financial expert Tori Dunlap is the kind of person who was probably nominated “Most Likely to Have a Successful Podcast” in high school. This boisterous host is not only hilarious, she’s intelligent and fascinated by all things money, making Financial Feminist one of the most interesting wealth podcasts we’ve heard this year. Her tagline is “Focused on Fighting the Patriarchy by Getting Rich.” which should tell you all you need to know about this laugh-out-loud money-making show. The content is varied so whether you’re learning more about “How to Budget (Without Hating Your Life)”  or diving into her series on “Financial Foundations”, Tori is tackling financial freedom with a new light-hearted, super feminist perspective, and helping women everywhere find the joy in pinching pennies.

For the Queen Seeking Wellness in Hard Times

  • Deliberate and Doing it Afraid by Jamila Reddy - Apple Podcasts

    • Average Episode Length: 15 minutes

    • This bite-sized podcast is hosted by wellness and lifestyle coach Jamila Reddy. It’s a very short series, tapping out at only five episodes, but there’s something satisfying about Jamila’s ability to give such impactful advice with a calming, sincere, and succinct delivery. A vulnerable show, the episodes explore themes of grief and uncertainty while weaving in tips on manifestation and how to hold space for yourself when it’s hard.  This relatable podcast is a great companion for the queen looking to shake the brain fog and get back on their feet.

For the Ambitious Multi-Hyphenate Queen

  • The Limit Does Not Exist by IHeartMedia, Hosted by Christina Wallace and Cate Scott-Campbell

    • Average Episode Length: 40 minutes

    • If you’re the kind of queen who is consistently juggling passion projects in different industries, this I Heart Media podcast is for the ADHD professional in you. Deciding on one passion or profession can be hard, especially for women who are just entering the workforce. This podcast, like the little girl in the taco commercials, begets the question “Porque no los dos?” (Translation: Why not both?). If we’re being honest, the interview guests that carry the show, but this exploration into creative intersectionality can help even the most confused queens find the commonality in their passions, offering helpful advice on balance and how to curate, and create, your own lane.

For the Queen Seeking Variety or Daily Inspo

  • Ted Talks Daily or How to Be a Better Human by TED and PRX

    • Average Episode Length: 40 minutes or less.

    • At this point, it's common knowledge that a good TedX talk can quite literally change your life. This series is for the queen who is on a good trajectory but still wants few pieces of encouragement along the way. This podcast plays like a Snapple Facts of Life series for adults and offers seemingly random, albeit consistently interesting content for every listener. Ted Talks Daily is at the top of many podcast lists (and with good reason!) but with episode topics ranging from war reporting to colorblindness, finding a common thread can be challenging.

How to Be a Better Human is TedX Talks Daily’s more curated cousin, with a singular self-titled focus. Hosted by comedian John Duffy (and often cohosted by other funny men and women like this episode with Roy Wood Jr.) this series takes our worldview and flips it quite literally inside out, helping the listener look for unique ways to be their best self, every day.

Always in your corner,
