The 4’s of Content Writing

In the age of the algorithm, we are swimming in content. Advertising and brand awareness are now digitized and pocket-sized- accessible 24/7. While that may seem daunting, these new tech tools are leveling the playing field for companies of all sectors and sizes. Content is now a vital and deciding factor in brand expansion. But not just any content. Not stale and sales-y jargon, but impactful and shiny pictures and prose! Content that shows exactly who YOU are. But how do you get started?

We’ve created a bulletproof checklist for gold star content. Read further to level up.

Create: This may seem like a no-brainer, but the first step is always specific and intentional creation. Do you love an existing brand model or are you itching to form something new? Noting what content excites you as a reader is always a strong start.

When creating, you want to find a sweet spot between fresh ideas that honor your mission- and an awareness of current trends to bring traction to your work. To be a social media star, check that each piece of content is 2-3 of the following:

  1. Educational

  2. Entertaining

  3. Relatable

  4. Inspirational

  5. Highlights your specific brand message

Captivate: While techn developments have been incredible in many ways- access to so much information has radically shortened our attention spans. SO, we want to make sure that our content makes a statement and stands out from the noise.

Begin by identifying your target audience and having them in mind when you write. We know a sure-fire formula starts with eye-popping graphics- and clean is always better than cluttered. Add a caption or copy that reiterates your business’ purpose, and that speaks to your ideal customer.

Curate: Break out the Pinterest boards and color palettes! Once you’ve pinpointed your patrons, you want to have them stick around. The most effective way we’ve found is through cohesive and aesthetic curation of your digital marketing. Having consistent, appealing posts is not only a visual feast- but it gives your audience a feeling/energy to associate with your company. Bringing them back again and again.

Construct: Studies have shown that companies have been successful with both random and regimented posting. But, constructing a schedule is always helpful. Moving your ideas from the notebook into the ether takes structure and gumption- and is the only way forward! Sit down and write out your ultimate goals for your digital marketing. Where do you want to be in 6 months? A year? 10 years? Knowing what you want helps construct actionable steps on where to kick-off- and how regularly you need to make material.

From Mad Men era to modern times, copywriting and content creation are an integral part of our business building- and are not going anywhere. Purposeful content inspires and ignites us to be our best selves, and to create a more beautiful society for us and our next generation.
